Sports Taekwondo International Convergence Conference Concludes

The ‘2024 Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Sports Taekwondo International Convergence Conference’, which seeks to explore future strategies for taekwondo, concluded with great success on July 7.

The event, organized by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) at the Muju Taekwondo Center in Muju, Jeollabuk-do on June 6-7, was designed to explore future strategies and measures to share and develop taekwondo values.

According to the WTF on Aug. 8, 18 scholars and international referees from eight countries presented topics they had prepared, creating an international academic exchange.

“The purpose of the event is to open up new horizons in taekwondo studies, especially in Asia, and to develop academic advancements for the globalization of taekwondo,” said Jung Byung-ki, a professor of taekwondo at Kyungmyeong University, who has been organizing the event since 2019.

This year’s conference discussed Muju County’s plan to establish an international taekwondo high school, as well as the current status of taekwondo in Asia and ways to interact with each other.

In addition to WTF President Joong Won Choi, FISU President Leonz Eder also attended the opening ceremony.

“Taekwondo is a leading sport in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that practices the pure function of sport,” said Mr. Eder, adding, “Wuju Taekwondowon is an amazing facility that realizes the educational value and pride of taekwondo.” 바카라사이트
