“Go Young-woo’s leadoff single woke up the bats”

Kiwoom Heroes snapped a seven-game losing streak by defeating the Hanwha Eagles.

Kiwoom defeated Hanwha Eagles 7-1 in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on Nov. 11. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak and improved Kiwoom’s record to 16-23 on the season, pushing Hanwha back to ninth place with a 15-24 record.

Starting pitcher Enmanuel De Jesus, who returned to the first team after being scratched from the roster for the break, pitched six innings of three-hit ball with two walks and three strikeouts to earn his fifth win of the season. Kim Sung-min pitched one scoreless inning to earn the hold, and Park Yoon-seong pitched the second inning to preserve the win.

At the plate, Ko Young-woo led the way with three hits and three RBIs. Dawson and Kim Hwijip also recorded multi-hit games, while Lee Yong-kyu hit a walk-off solo home run, his first home run in 940 days since October 14, 2021 against Kiwoom NC.

Kiwoom put runners on second and third in the top of the first after Dawson doubled up the middle, but Lee struck out to end the inning. In the top of the second inning, Kiwoom put runners on first and second with back-to-back singles by Go Young-woo and Kim Hwijip, but Lee Won-seok flied out to center field, Kim Jae-hyun grounded out to third base, and Lim Ji-yeol singled to left field to end the threat.

Go Young-woo then broke the 0-0 tie with a single. In the top of the third inning, with Kim Hye-sung and Lee Joo-hyung on first and second after back-to-back walks, Go Young-woo took a four-pitch fastball from Hwang Jun-seo to bring in Kim Hye-sung from second base. After Go Young-woo singled, Kim walked on a wild pitch to load the bases, and Kiwoom scored on an infield single by Lee Won-seok.

One more run was added in the top of the sixth, and a solo home run by Lee Yong-kyu in the top of the eighth made the score 4-0. Go Young-woo singled again with runners on first and second after Park Soo-jong was hit by a pitch and Lee Joo-hyung singled to left, bringing both runners home and essentially sealing the game.

Manager Hong Won-ki, who was looking forward to Heisu’s long innings before the game, said, “He came back after 10 days off and pitched a perfect game. Thanks to his 먹튀검증 strong pitching, we were able to take a good lead from the beginning of the game,” said Hong, who praised Heisu’s pitching.

“On offense, Koh Young-woo’s leadoff single in the third inning awakened the bats. Kim Hye-sung also contributed on offense with a single and a diving catch. In the eighth inning, Lee Yong-kyu’s solo shot and Ko Young-woo’s two RBIs sealed the game.” He also applauded the batsmen.
