‘Lee So-hee, Kim Ji-eun combine for 37 points’ as BNK defeats Iranian women’s basketball team by 43 points

Busan BNK, a women’s basketball team led by Lee So-hee and other players, defeated Iran’s national team by 43 points.

The BNK defeated the Iranian National Team, ranked 78th by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), 87-44 in the first round of the 42nd William Jones Cup on Friday afternoon at Heping Gymnasium in Taipei, Taiwan.

BNK, the 2022-23 Women’s Professional Basketball League runner-up, is currently representing South Korea in the Jones Cup. In addition to BNK and Iran, there are six other teams competing in the Jones Cup, including the Philippines National Team and Japan’s Chanson Cosmetics.

After winning the first game, BNK will play the second game against the Taiwan B team, which is composed of Taiwanese national team regular players, at the same venue on June 6.

In the game, Lee So-hee scored a game-high 20 points for both teams. Kim Ji-eun added 17 points and Han Um-ji chipped in with 11 points.

BNK jumped out to a 22-6 lead in the first quarter and never relinquished it.

The Iranian players, who played in hijab, were no match for BNK. In the second quarter, BNK widened the gap to 32 points.
