Suspected of illegal Internet gambling’ sent to the prosecution of LG Lee Chun-woong in professional baseball

Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul said on the 27th that it has sent Lee Chun-woong (34) from the LG Twins in professional baseball, who is suspected of illegal gambling, to the prosecution without detention.

Lee is accused of illegally gambling over the Internet. The police specified the number of times Lee’s gambling and the amount of gambling, and also confirmed that Lee used an account under another person’s name.

Lee is also accused of forcing his junior to send money to illegal Internet gambling sites.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) requested an investigation into Lee in March after receiving a report that “a player from a Seoul metropolitan club illegally gambled on the Internet.”

Lee, who had denied the allegations, admitted the charges to the club in April and turned himself in on the 14th of the same month.
After the controversy erupted, LG excluded Lee from the first-tier entry and posted an apology on the club’s website.
