Bae Ji-hwan rehabs ‘ankle injury’ in minors ready to return to big leagues

Bae injures ankle against Milwaukee on Feb. 2

Bae Ji-hwan (23, Pittsburgh Pirates), who has been sidelined with an ankle injury, will begin his rehabilitation in earnest.

“Bae is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis early next week,” MLB.com reported on Monday.

Bae felt pain in his ankle after hitting a grounder to second base in the eighth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers on April 2.

He was placed on the disabled list (IL) the next day and ended the first half of the season early, but began his rehabilitation on the 20th, playing catch and fielding.

He is expected to play in the minor leagues and return to the big leagues if there are no major issues with his physical condition. The timing of his return to the big leagues will also depend on how quickly he gains game experience.

Bae played 76 games in the major leagues this year, 고스톱 batting .238 with two home runs, 19 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases.
