In observance of the country’s Liberation Day on Thursday, President Yoon Suk Yeol pledged to make every effort to preserve the legacy of Korea’s independence heroes and ensure that their descendants receive the respect they deserve, the presidential office said, Wednesday.
The remarks were made during a luncheon at the Cheong Wa Dae guesthouse earlier in the day. The event welcomed over 100 descendants of independence activists living overseas, scholarship recipients from these descendants, special guests who have made significant contributions to the nation and society, as well as family members of fallen patriots.
“We have inherited an invaluable legacy from our ancestors. Thanks to the sacrifices and dedication of the independence heroes who dreamed of a 커뮤니티 free country where the people are the masters, we were able to reclaim our nation,” Yoon said during the luncheon event.
In addition to honoring the independence fighters, Yoon also praised the heroes who established South Korea’s free democratic government system, those who defended freedom against North Korean aggression during the Korean War, and the leaders and citizens who contributed to the prosperity of the national economy.
The president emphasized that the government is committed to building a South Korea that embodies freedom, peace, and prosperity.
“We will lay a strong foundation so that future generations can leap forward with pride and contribute to a greater South Korea. We will do our utmost to ensure that the spirit and legacy of our independence heroes are remembered forever and that their descendants receive the respect they deserve,” the president noted.
