NYSGC and others strive to promote responsible gambling

Last week, New York State gambling organizations and regulators joined forces to tackle problem gambling and provide more education on the issue. At Resort World Catskills, the New York State Game Commission, the New York State Addiction Services Support Agency, and the New York Problem Gambling Commission announced a new program named New York’s Responsible Play Partnership.

Problem gambling is a serious problem in North America and should not be underestimated by gamblers. With the new program, gamblers can now scan Quick Response (QR) codes to connect them in real time with trained problem gambling clinicians, so they can get help and guidance immediately.

Robert Williams, director general of the New York State Game Commission, argued that as the local game sector continues to expand, the game board and partners are committed to making the game safe for everyone. He said the three groups are working together to make sure that local residents in need have access to the tools and resources they need to address the problem.

Chinazo Cunningham, a member of the New York State Department of Addiction Services and Support, shared the importance of providing immediate care when these gambling issues require help. He described the QR initiative as an innovative approach that connects local residents with specially trained outpatient and inpatient care programs and individual doctors.

New York Government Relations and Public Relations Vice President Meghan Taylor Genting said the safety and responsibility of Resort World were two top priorities. She praised the committee for adopting QR technology, which has long been committed to responsible games featuring Resort World providing the latest and most comprehensive education in the field.

Currently, Congress oversees and maintains a network of local problem gambling resource centers throughout the Empire State. The Mid-Hudson Problem Gambling Resource Center also provides services to raise awareness of the potential risks of problem gambling and to advocate for those in need and to provide help.

Not long ago, the New York State Addiction Support Agency launched a new problem gambling campaign titled Stick to the Game Plan, a multilateral campaign broadcast on radio and social media channels to help gamblers prevent unwanted gambling addiction.

More examples of these programs were held by the New York Gambling Commission in February last year. According to reports, about 8 to 10 people can be affected by other people’s gambling addiction. And according to statistics, between 64 million and 80 million people across the country have attempted to unite all communities, institutions, and people to fight the problem.
